“It is always darkest before the dawn.”
– Harvey Dent, The Dark Knight
The third and final chapter in the ZENITH x Time+Tide “Surfer Trilogy” is here: the DEFY Skyline Skeleton White Surfer Ceramic. A summer dream of a combination, this new limited-edition timepiece presents a white ceramic “Surfer”, retaining the blue gradient openworked dial concept consistent across all three editions, but with a beach-inspired twist.
Sleek and cool on the wrist, the 41mm white ceramic case offers a modern blend of resilience, versatility and comfort, ultra-light and scratch-resistant enough for a sandy beach. With a screw-down crown and water resistance of 10 ATM (100 metres), it’s ready to walk into the waves.
The gradient blue open dial fades from dark blue at the top to a breezy sky blue at the bottom, while bridges in the form of ZENITH’s five-pointed star are filled with Super-LumiNova, enhancing visual impact at night—marking only the second time in ZENITH history the brand has offered a luminescent star logo.
The skeletonised El Primero 3620 SK caliber, visible through the open dial and sapphire display back, is rendered in turquoise to match the star-shaped bridges. Derived from the iconic high-frequency El Primero chronograph movement, it beats at 36,000 VpH (5 Hz), features a 1/10th of a second subdial at 6 o'clock, and provides a power reserve of approximately 55 hours. The mainplate, bridges, and star-shaped rotor are finished in a striking blue tone.
Completing the package is an integrated white ceramic bracelet with folding clasp, along with a white patterned rubber strap, both interchangeable using ZENITH’s quick strap-change mechanism—no tools required.
“When we saw the prototype of an ‘inverted’ Night Surfer, in brushed white ceramic, we just had to make it happen. The gradient ice blue dial sealed it. Best summer watch ever.”
— Andrew McUtchen, Founder of Time+Tide
“With this third chapter in our collaboration, we’re not just continuing a story, we’re elevating it.”
— Benoît de Clerck, CEO of ZENITH
