Farer Pembroke II

With its textured sandy-coloured dial the Pembroke II harkens back to some of the earliest military wristwatches, which often had a white dial before black became the standard choice. These early field watches often had blued hands and numerals and used radium lume. The Pembroke references the latter by using generous amounts of creamy X1 Super-LumiNova on the hands and markers, and this heavy application gives the markers some height and a bright glow in the darkness. Meanwhile, the blueing is represented by the blue outlining given to the markers, and by the navy blue sword handset and lollipop seconds hand. The pointer date complication comprises of a fourth white pointer hand with an inverted Farer A in red, and the date scale printed along the sloped rehaut. The dates are printed in mid-blue, with the last four in red to highlight when the user may need to adjust the date during shorter months.

The result of these various elements is a field watch with a familiar colour scheme, yet which has a distinctly contemporary layout. And, thanks to its robust 150m depth rating, sapphire crystal and excellent legibility, the Pembroke is the perfect choice for exploring an untamed wilderness.
