The Fears Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour again takes centre stage in the Fears collection as the Brunswick 40.5 'Barleycorn Plum' sees the design language evolve a step further as we embark on the next chapter of the Jump Hour.

Case: 40.5mm, stainless steel, brushed and polished, 20mm lug width

Graceful and complex, the curvaceous Brunswick silhouette takes its inspiration from a gentleman’s cushion case watch in the Fears archives, first made in 1924.

CASE
The Brunswick’s elegant 40.5mm cushion-shaped case has no flat surfaces, with even the solid case back having a gentle sweep. The case’s graceful curves are machined from 316L stainless steel, to a level usually reserved for precious metals. The depth of the polish showcases the sophistication of the machinery and the skill of the operator.

The traditional and bespoke ‘onion’-shaped winding crown, signed with the Fears Cypher, has fine grooves that catch the light, adding a touch of radiance to the edge of the case.

CASEBACK
The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Barleycorn Plum' comes with the option of either:

Open exhibition caseback – the first time this has been available on a Jump Hour, offering an unobstructed view of the decorated movement (and custom Fears Blue rotor adorned with the Bristol flower).

Closed caseback – offering the perfect canvas for personalisation with a custom engraving (see engraving options here).

DIAL
Expertly made and inspired by nature, this 3D barleycorn patterned dial offers a compelling fusion of artistry and innovation. Balancing the hour window on the upper side of the dial is a finely brushed and bevelled plate set into the lower side of the dial bearing the Fears name.

Outer Dial – a distinct barleycorn pattern radiating from the centre of the dial that has been coated in pure silver, dazzling from bright white to silver depending on the light.

Inner Dial – a rich plum matte lacquer that offers a bold yet sophisticated contrast.

As this is a ‘jump hour’ watch, there are no hour numerals on the dial. Instead, the hour is displayed via a window at 12 o’clock. The disc displaying these numerals is coated in a bright white lacquer before the hours are printed in glossy black ink in Fears’ bespoke ‘Edwin’ typeface, enhanced for display in a round window.

The hour window is surrounded by a hand-applied silver ring, coated in precious rhodium that has been machined with bevels before being finished by hand with brushed and polished surfaces. These multiple finishes catch the light while mirroring the polished bezel surrounding the crystal.

HAND
With the hours displayed neatly in a window, only one hand is required for telling the time.

The ‘Fears-shaped’ minute hand includes dual finishing: half polished to a mirror shine, half frosted to perfectly complement the dial configuration. This combination ensures perfect legibility at all angles, even in low light.

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Barleycorn Plum' features a rhodium-coated hand to match the applied hour aperture and bevels elsewhere on the dial.

MOVEMENT
The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour is powered by a Swiss-made, automatic JJ01 movement with a module developed in-house by Christopher Ward (originally used in the Fears x Christopher Ward Alliance 01 and now exclusively supplied for use by Fears).

Based on the Sellita SW200, this movement is incredibly accurate, having been regulated to Chronometer grade.

STRAPS
The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Barleycorn Plum' comes paired with two handmade straps crafted from Alcantara® with premium fold-over edges for a luxurious and contemporary feel:

Plum – perfectly captures and accentuates the lacquered inner section of the dial.

Storm Grey – offers a calm, understated contrast.

Alcantara® (a cutting-edge material developed in Italy) offers unrivalled aesthetic, technical, and tactile qualities. While similar to suede, it is far more hard-wearing and water-resistant. Commonly found in luxury sports car interiors, it makes for an ideal watch strap.

The straps are lined in premium anti-allergenic calf leather in our signature Fears Blue and embossed with both our logo and “Handmade in Belgium.” This lining is soft and comfortable, extending the lifetime of the strap. Both straps are finished with Fears' bespoke pin buckle featuring the Fears Cypher.

BRACELET
The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Barleycorn Plum' can also be fitted to a bespoke stainless steel 5-link bracelet with expertly brushed and polished links.

Featuring solid screw links, the bracelet has a substantial feel while the silky-smooth movement of the links ensures a comfortable fit. The bracelet can be micro-adjusted with both the 8mm and 6mm links provided, ensuring a perfect fit. It is secured with a trigger-release butterfly clasp, with the Bristol flower enamelled discreetly inside the blades.

As with all Brunswicks, it features a 20mm lug width and is designed to fit all of the straps in our range. The bracelet can be removed without tools using its quick-release spring bars.
